So the week of Doctor Who craziness comes to an end and I surprise myself by being able to be coherent.

I'm really, really satisfied, which I didn't expect to be. (I'm telling you, low expectations are the way to go!)

I started reading a bunch of speculation about how this all might end up, considering Russell T. Davies is leaving and a big part of the story he seems to want to tell (like it or not and I LOVE it) is the Rose/Doctor love story. And so when we ended up with the two Doctors, I kind of started seeing how it would probably work out. And sure it's all crazy, but that's Doctor Who for you and I really love that Rose DID get a happy ending.

And it did come full circle, in a way, with her Doctor being similar to the first Doctor she met. I listened to all the commentary on the first series and read more fan spec, and it got me thinking about how much Rose did for the first Doctor (well, the ninth Doctor . . . you know who I mean!). I think she really did make him care again. Sort of brought him back to life, to get all dramatical about it.

Another one of my worries going into this was that, you know, I was pretty damn sure that Billie Piper wasn't going to come back full time, and I didn't know how the Doctor would handle losing her again. Series three was bad enough! And I do think he'll be sad, but he should be much more all right with it then he was back then.

And I don't think I'll mind as much now if Moffat wants to write more of the Doctor falling in love with random people stories (I DO like Moffat for some things, but he's guilty for most of those episodes). It's still really, really, really not the kind of storyline I'm fond of (on any show, not just here), but at least I won't have the nagging "Remember Rose?" thought at the back of my head.

And nobody really died. The Donna stuff was really sad because at least all of his other former Companions (well, the new series ones anyway . . . don't know it goes for the older ones) get to remember the former life. And it seems that this bars Catherine Tate from ever being on the show again, but I like to think she'll still manage to have a better life now. Maybe some subconscious traces of what she did with the Doctor will remain. And maybe she could turn up on Torchwood.

Speaking of Torchwood, it sounds like Martha WILL be joining the cast, which makes me happy. And maybe even Mickey? I think I could enjoy that. Especially if he's not pining after Rose anymore. (That always made me so sad for him. She bears part of the blame, but he let her.)

Other random stuff:
~The Doctor's giggle when Rose admitted she was looking for a way back to him! One of those cute Doctor/Rose moments I wasn't sure they'd have time enough to fit in.
~Martha and Rose's brief little moment of acceptance. "Ooh, she's good."/"Oh my God. He found you." I was hoping for something like that between them.
~Everyone piloting the TARDIS!
~And, actually, the Doctor's whole happy little family in general. Everyone together.
~So we didn't actually get to hear the "I love you," but, in the words of one Doctor, "Does it need saying?"

So I built up the finale to be a Big Bad thing in my head and planned on seeking out a bunch more fluffy fic about the Doctor, Rose, and Donna traveling together. I'll probably still do that, but I also want a bunch of fic about Rose and the Doctor in the parallel work. I'm sure lots will start turning up any second, if it hasn't already!

Um, actually, I wrote a bunch. But you all already knew how obsessive I am, right?

I think I'm going to run off to soak in the bathtub, but I'm hoping you guys wrote/will write lots of entries for me to read & reply to, so I can stay in my little Doctor Who bubble for a while longer.

I can't believe so many people (myself included) thought it was gonna be hellish for the Rose lovers. But I'm still not sure how I feel about giving Rose a Doctor, even though I LOVED the idea when I read it as a theory.

(using a cylon icon for the parallels, LOL)

Your post has actually made me feel a little better about the Doctor/Rose resolution, so thanks! But part of me still finds it just wrong in a way, because it's not what Rose wanted and he didn't let her choose. I think living a human life with Rose was what the Doctor always wanted, so he sort of assumed that's what she'd want. I think in a way it makes the Doctor happy to know that a version of him gets to live "happily ever after" even if he never will. The scene left a bad taste in my mouth, though. :/

I've been watching season 1 and was planning on posting about Rose bringing the Doctor back to life, so ITA! I can't agree with you about Donna-- that made me SO SAD and was just AWFUL!!

Yeah, Mickey and Martha are supposed to be joining Torchwood. And I was very glad to see Rose finally giving Martha some respect -- after all, Martha was happy that the Doctor and Rose were together again. And I am thrilled to see Mickey finally get away from Rose; she treated him horribly.

I hated the ending with the Doctor(s) and Rose. Honestly, it made me dislike her more; she always wants more, and is never happy. The doctor she gets to keep is human, but he has the same memories and more or less the same personality as the real one, but that's not good enough for her. Nevermind that he was the only one willing to tell her he loved her -- she wanted the other one. (I would happily take that version of him!) I feel sorry for the doctor who stayed with her; he genuinely loves her, and will probably end up like poor Mickey while she searches for yet another way to get to her Doctor.

I didn't like the ending with the Doctor and Donna either. She wanted to be special, and would rather die than go back to an ordinary life. What right does he have to take her memories away from her?

I had some little hope that maybe Rose would stay with the Doctor, you know at least through the Christmas special or so.

I honestly don't like the resolution, if you can call it that. The Doctor is alone, again. And now it seems will never see Rose ever again.

I was almost afraid Rose would not have a happy ending again.Hopefully Rose make the Doctor(with the one heart) 'care' again and etc.

And I was happy they kissed.

I was happy that Rose & Martha got to officially met...well Martha was on the screen when she was meeting Rose. But all the same,Officially met. And had those little little scenes together, like that hug.
