Fringe

I tried to get my mom to watch Fringe, but she said "I read about that TV show--something about nightmare/horror coming to life--think I can skip it!" Darn her for being all literate and informed. (Okay, fine, she would've hated it. Whatever.)

She's also telling me the plot of the latest Lori Wick book (Christian romance) and making it sound VERY soap operatic. Maybe I should be trying to get her to watch Gossip Girl!

Anyway . . .

This is my original review:

Having watched so much TV and, specifically, so much JJ TV, I wasn't at all surprised when Olivia's love interest turned out to be evil. He was either evil or dead . . . or both.

I don't have a very good sense of the show's mythology. I know who the good guys are and who the bad guys are (at least until the double crossing begins), but I'm not really sure what anyone's goals are or even, entirely, what the show is ultimately going to be about. I think Lost and Alias did a better job of setting up their worlds.

LOVED Joshua Jackson. You might be hearing a lot from me about him in the fall. It looks like he and his father will have one of those dysfunctional relationships that I loved so much on Alias (maybe he has an evil mother out there?). And he and Olivia have chemistry, so that's another relationship to look forward to.

To that I would add:
1. Joshua Jackson is hot.
2. And bad ass.
3. And awesome.
4. I think the main three of Olivia, Joshua Jackson and his dad are going to MAKE the show.
5. I was a lot more hooked this time through and I think I have a better idea of what the show is about. Still not as awesome as the Lost or Alias pilots, but good stuff. Definitely has that JJ touch.
