Top 5 Ships
5. Chuck/Blair, Gossip Girl
I just love how well-matched these two are. They love each other, but they were friends for years first. They've gotten way angst-y lately, which is fine, but I miss the days when they had fun hatching evil plots against each other.
4. Booth/Brennan, Bones
I love the progression of their relationship. From coworkers to best friends to (pleasepleaseplease) lovers.
3. Joey/Pacey, Dawson's Creek
They were so sweet with each other! I loved getting to see them fall in love. They had the same foundation of child friendship that Joey/Dawson did, but managed to avoid the pitfalls that can bring.
2. John/Aeryn, Farscape
Oh, these two! I know a lot of you haven't watched Farscape, but these two are a shipping gold standard for me. We got to see their relationship from the very beginning and it had such a perfect balance of angst and happiness!
1. Chandler/Monica, Friends
These two kept moving up my list! First I had them at number 3, then I put them at number 2, and, finally, after a conversation with

5. The Bimbo Speech, "Do I Know You?" (4x01)
You all know I love Barney/Robin, but I loved Barney's bimbo speech at the end of the season premiere because that's Barney. There's this moment where you can see the shift from the guy Lily tried to convince himself to be and the "real" Barney. He's still going to be making speeches when/if he's with Robin. Probably not about bimbos, but I think he needs to keep that aspect of his personality.
4. Barney doesn't want the others to know about the San Fransisco Trip, "Bachelor Party," (2x19)
Yes, I love the actual moment when Barney when to San Fransisco to get Lily back, but I love the scene when he doesn't want to tell the gang about it even more. He doesn't want them to think of him that way, as the guy who will go out of his way for his friends. He'd much rather be the guy who hates marriage. Oh, Barney.
3. Barney laughs so hard he falls out of his chair, "Sorry, Bro" (4x16)
This is Barney at his adorable best!
2. "Ted, I'm going to teach you how to live," "How I Met Everyone Else" (3x05)
Of course this is how Barney and Ted meet! Barney meets Ted in the bathroom, follows him out, and declares he's going to teach him how to live. Perfect introduction.
1. Barney comforts Robin, "Sandcastles in the Sand," (3x16)
Yes, this led to the wonderful Barney/Robin hook up, but first we got to see Barney be an amazing friend. As soon as he saw that Robin needed him, he was there for her. And he was able to cheer up, just by being himself.
Top 5 Buffy the Vampire Slayer Episodes
(Feel free to ask for my reasoning. I just didn't want to spoil Tori or anyone else who's watching for the first time.)
5. "Once More with Feeling" (6x07)
4. "I Only Have Eyes For You" (2x19)
3. "Amends" (3x10)
2. "The Gift" (5x22)
1. "Becoming: Part 2" (2x22)
(Again, feel free to ask about these! This time no spoilers for Annie!)
5. "The Con Man in the Met Lab" (4x08)
4. "Aliens in a Spaceship" (2x09)
3. "The Killer in the Concrete" (2x18)
2. "Two Bodies in the Lab" (1x15)
1. "The Verdict in the Story" (3x13)
5. Helen Santos
I think this might be a bit of a minority opinion, but I really liked Helen! She supported her husband's political career, but she also worried about the effect it would have on their family. And you could tell she and Santos were still in love with each other.
4. Zoey Bartlet
I always enjoyed getting a glimpse of what it was like to be the president's daughter. And she and Charlie were so sweet!
3. Mrs. Landingham
She knew Jed so well! She respected his role as president, but she'd also tell him exactly what she thought!
2. Danny Concannon
Despite being a reporter, Danny often seemed like one of the gang. And his and CJ's relationship was just fabulous!
1. Ainsley Hayes
I adored Ainsley! Her method of speaking, her relationship with Sam, how she handled being a Republican (and a woman!) among all these outspoken Democrats . . . she was just wonderful.
5. Lena Olin
She was one of my favorite things about Alias! She made Irina such a complex, fascinating character.
4. Julia Roberts
Seeing all the previews for her new movie made me remember how much I loved Julia Roberts growing up. She makes movies I enjoy!
3. Victor Garber
He's just amazing! At both acting and singing. He brings so much to every role I've seen him play!
2. Neil Patrick Harris
Okay, he grew up gay and a child actor . . . plenty of people have trouble with just one of those things, but he handled both and grew up to be an amazing man.
And the diversity of the roles he plays! Doogie, Barney, Dr. Horrible, "NPH" . . . all of these parts are so different from each other and he's so great in all of them.
1. David Boreanaz
He's another one who's impressed me by the variety of his roles. Angel, Angelus, Booth. Such different men! And I also love that we've gotten to see him grow as an actor. He's such a better actor now than he was in the first season of Buffy and isn't that how it should be? I hope he's on Bones for a very long time, but I'm also very excited to see what he does next in his career.
5. Doctor Who
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
4. The OC
I think most of you know I have a weakness for teen drama and The OC is one of the best. It had its weak points, but I think it maintained quality much better than these type of shows normally do. And as I've discussed with a couple of you, I find it has so much more warmth than Gossip Girl. Everyone on this show really did love each other and they were all ultimately good people.
3. Firefly
What with Dollhouse and all, there's been a lot of talk recently about Joss Whedon shows and how they can start out slowly. That didn't happen with Firefly. It was all together from the very beginning. And, perhaps even more impressive, each of the nine characters was developed so well in such a short amount of time. They're all distinct and lovable.
2. Farscape
I don't know why I'm on such a Farscape kick lately, but the show deserves it! John and Aeryn have such an epic relationship, and John goes through such amazing character growth. And, though it got canceled, it was tied up so well in The Peacekeeper Wars. (And this is another one of those rare shows that has made me cry.)
1. Friends
I had to give the top spot to Friends because, at the end of the day, it's the show I've enjoyed most. It hasn't been gone that long, but it's been gone long enough that I think it's fair to say it's held up well. Not only that, but it maintained its quality through all ten seasons. There are a lot of shows I love that took missteps over the year. And if I mention these shows--say Gilmore Girls or Veronica Mars--chances are, a lot of you will know exactly what missteps I'm talking about. Friends doesn't have anything like that. It never made all of fandom angry!
(Sadly, I don't know these books well enough to pick out specific quotes. You'll just have to take my word for these reasons!)
5. He's hot.
And who doesn't like that in a man?
4. He's a good kisser.
Again, who doesn't appreciate this in a guy?
3. He loves Sookie
He struggles with it, and maybe he still wouldn't admit it, but he loves her.
2. He has a sense of humor
Sookie mentions several times how unusual this is for a vampire. Eric's over a thousand years old, but he still knows how to laugh. I like that.
1. He's the Sheriff of Area 5
Hey, if you're going to hang out with vampires and other supernatural creatures, it doesn't hurt to be well-connected!
5. Because David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel meet with an acting coach on the weekends.
I've always been impressed that they put that much effort into their work, and it pays off (see reason number 1).
4. David Boreanaz as Booth
I loved him as Angel, but he was just made for this role! You can tell he's having such a good time playing Booth.
3. The characters
The ensemble is written so well on this show. Sometimes on shows like these that have one or two clear leads, the ensemble fades into the background. But we get to know them all on Bones.
2. The humor
I don't always laugh at comedies, but Bones has me giggling every week! There's so much banter and sarcasm, two of my very favorite things.
1. Booth/Brennan
I mean, if this relationship didn't work, than the show wouldn't work. And, like I said up in Top 5 Ships, I love that we've gotten to see their relationship develop over time. The chemistry was always there, but when the show started, they barely tolerated each other. And now they love each other so much. They don't say it, but you can see it.
5.Confused, surprised, and attracted, "Double Date" (1x12)
Pacey: I had a nice time today. A nice time that exceeded my wildest expectations. I was confused, and surprised... and attracted. You?
Joey: Well... confused and surprised.
Pacey: Not... it's okay. I can deal with rejection pretty effortlessly. So long as we don't extend this really awkward moment any longer than we have to.
Joey: Goodnight Pacey. I had a nice time too today.
I just love that Pacey was interested in Joey this far back. And that the two of them could have a nice time alone together even then.
Joey: Of all the people to see me like this, it had to be you.
Pacey: It's a new year, Joey. You never know, we could even end up friends.
Joey: Pacey, I'm upset enough as it is.
3. "You wouldn't have to ask," "The Graduate" (4x22)
Pacey: I think I—I should probably go off and live my own life for a little while. That certainly doesn’t mean that this is how I wanted it to end between us. So, hypothetically speaking, if I were lucky enough one day to find myself owning a sailboat again, and I were to ask the woman that I love to go sailing with me, would she?
Joey: You wouldn’t have to ask, Pace. I’ll see you.
Pacey: See you, Joey.
I like looking at this a a preview for the end of the series. Eventually, they did come back to each other.
2. "I remember everything," "The Anti-Prom" (3x22)
Pacey: Where did you get those? They’re not you.
Joey: Why? Because I’m just a poor tomboy or . . . Dawson gave them to me.
Pacey: Neither. See this? This is you. It’s not showy or gaudy. It’s simple. Elegant. Beautiful.
Joey: It’s my mom’s bracelet.
Pacey: I know.
Joey: How do you know?
Pacey: Well, because you told me. Six months ago. You were wearing that blue sweater with snowflakes that you have. We were walking down the hallways at school. I was annoying you as per usual. You said, “Look, Pacey, I just found my mother’s bracelet this morning, so why don’t you cut me some slack?”
Joey: You remember that?
Pacey: I remember everything.
Even their exes knew Joey and Pacey were in love after watching this!
1. Sailing off into the sunset together, "True Love" (3x23)
Joey: I think I’m in love with you.
Pacey: You think or you know?
Joey: I know. I’ve known it since the moment you kissed me and maybe even before that, and, scary as it is, I don’t want to deny it anymore, Pacey. I don’t want to run from it and I don’t want to let it run from me.
Pacey: So. What are we going to do here, Jo?
Joey: I want to come with you.
Pacey: What? You crazy?
Joey: I want to stop standing still. I want to move forward. I want to come with you.
All seasons of all shows should end with my favorite couple sailing off into the sunset together!
Honorable Mention:
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
Annie's a real person, but I ship it!
5.Penny, Dr. Horrible
Ted would love Penny's do-gooder nature.
4. Rory Gilmore, Gilmore Girls
I think Ted would love Rory's book-smarts. And she'd just make fun of Ted if he got pretentious.
3. Kaywinnit "Kaylee" Lee Frye, Firefly
Kaylee's so sweet! She and Ted would be adorable together.
2. Dr. Elliot Reid, Scrubs
Okay, so Ted would have to get over the fact that she looks exactly like his ex-fiancee, but I think he'd find Elliot's neurosis endearing, and Elliot's eager to settle down. They'd be happy together.
1. Cindy 'Mac' Mackenzie, Veronica Mars
Mac is smart, funny, and she wouldn't let Ted get away with any crap. She's the kind of woman he should be looking for!

Their sneaking around in the fifth season remains one of my all-time favorite story lines on any show.
I can still almost feel the goosebumps from...holy shit, that was 10 years ago! lol wow. I feel old.
I love the Barney moments. I was watching 2.01 earlier today!
I loved that Joey/Pacey moment back in s1. I was about to jump ship from Dawson/Joey right there (since were still tolerable in s1). lol
I love your choices for Ted's future wife! I can so see it being someone smart like Mac. Because really, when I think about it I'm thinking "who would fit in with the whole group" even more than "who would fit with Ted". And I can see Mac being friends with them and bringing something different to the show.
no subject
Yeah, I love how they put in that Joey/Pacey element so early on! It took them a while to follow through, but I think people were interested from then on. (Huh, maybe a little like Barney/Robin in s1? Though Ted/Robin were thankfully much better than Joey/Dawson!)
YES. I did try to find people who would fit well with the group not just Ted . . . they have to get past Lily after all! :D
no subject
I didn't really mind Joey/Dawson back when s1 was airing, so I think I liked them more than Ted/Robin (where I just didn't care either way, lol). But I was also 12 when DC first aired so I may have just went with the flow better then. But I do remember that Pacey and Joey moment in s1 and wishing the show would go there (but at the time not thinking that they would).
no subject
I actually didn't watch DC until it was all over, but when I heard about it as a kid, I always thought I'd like Dawson/Joey! And I didn't mind them in the first season, and even the beginning of the second, but they just fell apart so completely. And, well, who doesn't love Pacey? :)

5. "Once More with Feeling" (6x07)
The musical!! I love how it all fits in with the current storyline. And I just love musicals in general.
4. "I Only Have Eyes For You" (2x19)
I love how this dealt with the Buffy/Angel relationship. Even though he was Angelus at the time, you got to say all the love between them.
3. "Amends" (3x10)
I just ADORE the Buffy/Angel scene on the cliff when they talk about why he came back. And it SNOWED. That's just such an incredible moment. Plus, you have the Willow/Oz reunion!
2. "The Gift" (5x22)
In a lot of ways, if this had been the series finale, I would've been okay. Buffy had a great death, Xander/Anya got engaged . . . so much got wrapped up and everyone was left in a fairly good place.
1. "Becoming: Part 2" (2x22)
I loved all the flashbacks, seeing how Angel became a vampire, Buffy getting called to be the slayer . . . and then Buffy having to kill Angel, even as you could see how much she loved him.

And I should probably rewatch Dawson's Creek, too. I always adored Pacey and Joey, and there are some episodes I think I missed in the later seasons when I got tired of some of the storylines.
And yes, yes, yes to Barney moments, Doctor Who, and Farscape.
no subject
Ha, yeah, the later years of Dawson's Creek had a fair amount of weak episodes. But hopefully you at least got to see the Joey/Pacey in season 6. :)
Aw, I'm so glad you mentioned Farscape! I always feel so alone in my love for it, since it doesn't seem that well known anymore.
no subject
(hahha, just kidding about that, obviously! ♥)
2. I LOVE the Barney moments. You've made excellent choices, my friend! Plus they're such great moments.
3. Even though Aliens in a Spaceship is number four on your top Bones episodes, I approve of your choices. Verdict in the Story is such a great episode, and it's definitely in my top ten.
4. EXCELLENT Joey/Pacey moments. I think I'd have many of those in my top five too. Except you forgot ASK ME TO STAY.
(Haha, right now you want to kill me a little bit, don't you. It's hard enough choosing without having someone tell you you did it wrong. hahahaha. SORRY.)
no subject
3. I was surprised how many Bones episodes we had in common! Especially since I didn't think I'd be able to pick any at all.
4. NO! That one makes me too sad! Even knowing how it turns out! But ohhhhh they have so many great moments. I could come up with twenty more, easily.
(Haha, right now you want to kill me a little bit, don't you. It's hard enough choosing without having someone tell you you did it wrong. hahahaha. SORRY.)
LOL! When I was putting this together, I totally thought of specific people who were going to have objections! Yours was Booth/Brennan being number four. :P But it's all fun! I like hearing what people think.

When he buys her the wall? It's one of my favourite moments on tv ever!
no subject
When he buys her the wall, yes, but the ask me to stay part always makes me sad because she looks like she's going to say no! And she kind of does, at first. But, yes, the buying her the wall. SO AMAZING!

SAME WITH FRIENDS. That show is my life.
Barney doesn't want the others to know about the San Fransisco Trip, "Bachelor Party," (2x19)
THAT'S WHERE I REALLY FELL IN LOVE WITH BARNEY. He went back for Lily. So Lily and Marshall could be Marshmallow & Lilypad again. ASADFALSDK.
PENNY WOULD BE SO PERFECT FOR TED. HEE. I actually love all of your choices! And Mac! Their interactions would be so awesome and hilarious and just give this show this whole other layer.
ANYWAY, THIS WAS AWESOME.

BARNEY LOVES LILY/MARSHALL SO MUCH!
YAY! I'm so glad you loved my Ted choices! I wasn't sure I'd be able to think of any, but I was pretty pleased with what I ended up with! Why can't the show do a crossover with one of these characters???
