HIMYM Finale

OH, BARNEY/ROBIN! WE GOT MAKING OUT!!!!

I think this really was the right way to go: Robin knows, both their commitment issues were on full (HILARIOUS) display, and, oh yeah, WE GOT MAKING OUT!!!

I was hoping for a little more with them at the end, but I loved what we got. They can go in so many directions from here. My interpretation is they'll be in some kind of relationship next year, but given that neither can say "I love you" without the other freaking out, I don't think they're in danger of getting married and opening that B&B anytime soon.

(ALSO. It gives me all kinds of fic ideas. Isn't nice when shows are considerate like that?)

Stupid Josh Radnor spoiled me for part about the mother. I guess we'll have to see how that works? I've had plenty of professors who I was just a name to, but would Ted really be that kind of teacher? Hm. I mean, maybe (probably) he won't fall in love with her until (much?) later, but it certainly seems like he'd have to "meet" her now.

I kind of rolled my eyes at leaping over the other building at first, but, you know what? It works. It's not like Ted has ever been the most reliable story teller.

And we got the goat!

Now let's see how Gossip Girl treats me!

Kissing!!! Yeah, I wanted them to kiss again after they leapt across to the other roof, but I was happy with what we got. I was worried that anything from Robin's side was going to feel out of character, but I liked that they made it so she's felt something for him, but never really thought much about it or examined it because why bother, it's Barney and he's not into that kind of thing. So, I loved that it makes sense and leaves it open for them to explore her feelings more next season (and maybe Barney can woo her!) while slowly making Barney more comfortable with the idea of actually being in a relationship.

My guess with the mother being a student in Ted's class is that unless next season is the last season of the show, I think he won't actually meet the mother until after she's no longer a student in his class. Like, seasons later, she'll see him out somewhere and run up to him to introduce herself because she recognizes him as her former professor.

The leaping was super cheesy, but I just kind of loved how happy they all seemed at that moment.

Yes, I re-watched the whole hospital scene, and I think it makes perfect sense. There IS something there, everyone knows it, but it's still Barney! I think they did a great job of setting up a foundation for them to be together next season, but still have plenty of room for growth.

That was my initial thought, too. I think I've just been at my college too long, where professors only teach one class! In that situation, the professors get to know everyone, even in the big classes. I forget that that's unusual!

YES! I loved those kind of happy scenes. :)

Yeah, I forget that a lot of colleges have small classes! I had a couple of classes the size of the one Ted appears to be teaching, and unless you went out of your way to get to know the professor, they'd never know who you were.

I'm rewatching it right now!

Yeah, I've just been lucky in my college career! I don't think I've ever had a class larger than 50.
