Goodbye, Junior

Ken Griffey Jr is retiring.

It's time, but it's sad, too. He'll probably always be my favorite Mariner player and so many of my childhood baseball memories revolve around him.

ETA: Junior's statement. I feel like I should have more to say, but I don't. He's the reason baseball still even exists in Seattle. I'm just going to be quietly bookmarking all the articles that are sure to come out about what he's meant to the Mariners. It wasn't without drama, but that never seemed to matter to me.

I thought about you as soon as I heard about this. That's just weird to realize that he won't be playing anymore.

Isn't it? During tonight's game, they said it's the first day since something like 1974 that a Griffey hadn't been involved in baseball.

I saw that he was trending on twitter and I actually knew who he was 'cos of you :D For once I can say I understood a trending topic haha.
Its sad to see a favourite player retire though, even if it is time :(

LOL. Don't you love clicking on a trending topic to find out what it is, only all the tweets are "Why is _____ trending?"

Yeah, it really is. He's been playing since 1989, so it's pretty strange to think it's over. :-/

Aw that's sad. At least he had such a great career.

Annnd that was a message from a two year old, lol. But, yeah, I'm pretty grateful that I got to watch him. Both growing up when it all just seemed "normal" and then him coming back when I was old enough to really appreciate what he did.
