Today's family thing was long, but overall better than the last one. Except for, this morning, as I was getting on the freeway, I had the sudden thought, "Did I remember to turn off the coffee pot?" And so all day long I was plagued with visions of burning down the apartment building with my coffee pot! Does anyone else get these kind of paranoid fears? (I guess I should mention that I did, in fact, remember to unplug the coffee pot and my apartment building remains standing.)

And does anyone else get shocked when they watch cable TV? Not offended, just shocked. I'm so used to network TV that when I watch anyone on cable, it's like, "Hello, boobs!" And half of me kind of does have my mom over my shoulder going, "That's inappropriate!" and the other half says, "So what? I've seen my own naked boobs lots of times." So, yeah, I've been watching The Tudors (which I'm enjoying, but not as much as I thought I would) and it has lots of naked people in it.

My mom has the paranoid thing where she's always afraid she's left the stove on, or the door unlocked, then makes us go in and check for her.

And I don't so much get shocked at cable TV really---I don't really watch a whole lot of cable, and when I do, it's things like the Disney channel or food network---not much with the nudity either of them.

But when I first started watching Torchwood---now that was a little shocking, just the portrayal of sex...much more graphic than I'm used to.

Those are the things I'm paranoid about when I'm going to bed, but no other times.

And, hee, no, not much nudity on the Disney channel--not even much kissing, really.

But, yeah, the portrayal of sex really is much more graphic on these kind of shows! I'm so used to network tv, where pretty much all you see is the couple kissing in bed, maybe rolling over a couple of times . . . cable TV is much more educating about sex. ;)

hehehe.... it really is.

Last Saturday, when 2 of my friends and I were having a mini-doctor who/torchwood marathon to intro one of them to the fandom, we watched my fav. episode of Torchwood, but I had forgotten that there's a really kind of graphic, not in that they really show anything, but they show sex, and honestly, we're all adults---19 to 21 in age--and we were kinda, not immature about it, but we kept laughing about the fact that his whole wall was basically window, with no blinds..... It was a bit weird.

Hee. Yeah, that can happen to me, too. I'll have a friend over and we'll be watching something and we'll suddenly start giggling over "Look, sex!"

But I think those are the best kind of friends--the ones you CAN be immature with sometimes, without anyone going, "Uh, you're stupid for laughing at that." :D

hehe, they really are the best type. :)

in fact, one of my favorite things to do with my friend margaret is go to this place called stonefire pizza, which is like an upscale Chuck E. Cheese...we have a ton of fun playing games and winning prizes....which are probably meant for kids....

Eh, boobs. Maybe the internet has jaded me, but it takes a lot to even make me blink twice.

And there are a few times I worry that I leave the oven on, because last month I was cleaning the kitchen and the oven was just randomly on. I'd left it on all night. :\

I think I just forget that not every show has to follow the network censor rules, so it's as much surprise that they can show it than anything else!

And that's when it gets to me! Because sometimes I have caught myself leaving the oven on or my fridge ajar, so that makes me feel like my paranoid is justfiable. *sigh*

Glad the family time wasn't all too bad. I know those fears! I can go completely insane worrying about having done something. Funny thing is that when you rationally think about it, you know you did the right thing because you always do... But what if this time you forgot?

Being in Europe, I'm kinda used to nudity on tv so can't really say anything about cable tv LOL

Exactly! That's always the thought process I go through--"I'm sure I remembered to do that, I always do---but what if I didn't?!?!?"

Ha! You probably have the opposite reaction: "Why are these Americans so prudish?" It really is so crazy how people can get so worked up over those things over here. Is it really that big of a deal?

Haha, yeah sometimes I do wonder what the big deal is about certain things. When it's things like nudity on tv, I guess it's just a matter of being used to it and all that. When it comes to gay rights, I can sometimes only shake my head because sometimes you read things that are just plain retarded imho.

Oh, I know! People say such stupid things. Really, aren't there bigger things to worry about?

Oh no! I've done it once or twice--so now it's one of those things I check obsessively.
