Nothing Would Change (HIMYM)

So I did write a little HIMYM fanfic. It's been ages since I wrote any fanfic, so this is just me trying to get back into the swing of things. Let me know what you think.


Barney's thoughts, post-finale

The one thing Barney was absolutely sure of was that it wasn’t going to change his life. He didn’t want to be Ted or, worse, Marshall. One woman for the rest of his life? Please. Even if Scherbatsky was the hottest woman he’d ever known and actually fun to be around, it just wouldn’t be fair to the rest of the world. There were far too many women out there who hadn’t experienced the awesomeness of Barney Stinson.

So while Ted talked about Stella (proposing to a woman after a couple of months and a “life-changing” cab ride? Clearly Ted had forgotten everything Barney had ever taught him) and Marshall and Lilly explained their apartment’s newfound plumbing problem, Barney slipped in a few lewd comments about his nurses, and everything was back to normal. Just as it always had been.

And then Robin walked in and he knew that nothing was the same at all.

Simple but effective--I find this a great way to test the waters after not writing for awhile.

This sounds exactly like Barney, and that last line is great. I only see two mechanical errors, & those aren't even big. Overall, well-written & conveyed--I liked it :)

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully I'll eventually get up to writing some longer works (if ever manage to get this darn paper I'm still struggling with done).

What were the mechanical errors? I did proof it, but those things can slip by so easily . . .

inside () you don't capitalize first word, and period goes outside of (), like so-- (proposing...him).

really excellent. great barney internal voice. each line is an excellent echo of the show, bringing its mythology in without knocking us over the head. it's the tightest himym drabble i've seen. keep writing!!! oh, and sharing! (and should you need a beta, i offer my services--i'm pretty awesome)

I hope so! I have a couple more weeks of school/responsibility, but I don't have anything lined up for summer yet, so I don't see why I shouldn't spend all my time writing fic. ;)
