Warning: Stop reading, Grey's Anatomy fans, if you don't want to know the big secret behind Denny's afterlife love affair with Izzie.

I'm serious. Stop.

Okay then, here we go. Turns out Shonda Rhimes wasn't lying when she told me last month that a brain tumor wasn't what was causing Izzie's case of "I see dead people... and have sex with them!" But she was being sneaky.

Last chance to run, spoilerphobes!

According to multiple sources, Izzie's hallucinations are health-related -- and brain-related. And although the specific name of the ailment is being kept in the safe underneath Rhimes' desk, I'm told it's similar to an aneurysm. And every time it flares up, she sees Denny. And sometimes when it really flares up, she shags him. (A Grey's rep could not be reached for comment.)

But wait, there's more! Izzie's aneurysmish disorder was never intended to be fatal. Plans change, but, per an ABC insider, Rhimes didn't cook up this story in order to grant Katherine Heigl's alleged wish to be let go from the show. Rather, the boss wanted to give her employee the thing she allegedly wanted, the thing that eluded her last season: great, Emmy-worthy material.

And say what you want about the story, Heigl has delivered.

For their part, ABC execs remain divided except for on one point: Everyone acknowledges that the plot is asking the audience to take a huge leap. "It's definitely an unorthodox story, but I trust in Shonda," maintains one suit, who says the press will eviscerate the net no matter what they do. "If we interfere, we get blamed for messing with someone's creative vision. If we don't do anything, we get blamed for the backlash. You really can't win."

Another insider says Alphabet execs are getting antsy waiting for the audience to find out about the underlying medical issue fueling Izzie's spectral romance. So antsy, in fact, that they are applying some light pressure on Rhimes to speed up the reveal. Once you know the reason Izzie is seeing Denny, they figure, you'll be much more willing to go along for the ride.

Well, let's put that theory to the test: Now that you know what's behind Izzie's condition, do you feel better? Worse? Indifferent? Sound off below! (Personally, I can get on board with this story now. I think.)

Source.

I don't know. I guess I feel a little better (at least now I know he's not a ghost!), but I still think it was a mistake to bring Denny back at all.

I never saw Izzie/Denny as a big love story, but it was popular in its day, and certainly I have friends who love it, so I mostly kept my peace. But the show won't let me forget it!

Look, of course, Izzie would be upset over Denny's death, and maybe they would've had a real relationship if he had lived, but, as it was, they barely knew each other! All I ever saw was two people who thought each other was hot. When they started talking about feelings and all that, I just never saw it.

It's the same problem I had with Callie/George because it was like she magically showed up, just when he needed someone, and their relationship progressed so quickly that I never saw them actually fall for each other. And maybe that's a flaw in my viewing. I don't know.

I keep thinking about Cristina/Owen in comparison to these stories because (have you noticed?) I love them, and, on surface, they're another one of those couples who meet and fall for each other right away. I think the difference is I can see what they see in each other. Cristina saw him being all bad ass and of course that's a major turn on for her! And Owen, I think, saw those qualities in her, too. And it's progressing slowly, so we've several times seen moments where each of them realizes, "Wow, this person really is pretty amazing." That's the kind of relationship I can get behind.

No, I'm not posting in class! What a cheeky accusation! And my professor just said, "Think of yourself as ducklings. And I'm the mother duck."

My point exactly! It is soo good to have someone on your flist who shares my opinion. Seriously!

THANKS, again! I mean, I can tolerate it if people like him. Even though it is beyond me but oh well. But bringing Denny back and back and back again is kinda pissing me off. You killed him, so just get over it. And no, I still don't like it. No, I don't really care for Denny or JDM. And I don't wanna. The end. Thank you!

And I just couldn't agree more with you on your thoughts. It's just...now it is just pissing me off because she has this care speech about Alex and next ep she is making out with Denny. Oooookay. Even with his health thing...wtf? Wtf, is still my main question here!

SAME!

Yes! Seriously, I was mostly quiet about not liking Denny back in the day because so many people did that I figured it was so just one of my little quirks. But how can I not talk about it when the show keepings bringing it up??

And, yeah, I was really excited about Izzie/Alex, but I don't even know if I want it to happen now, with this Denny stuff!

I don't really know why but the moment Denny popped up I was soooo annoyed by him. He bugged me oh so much. Maybe because I was such a big Alex/Izzie back than but also because I found this whole storyline soooo stupid. I mean, they knew each other for like what? 3 weeks? OK, maybe more but still? You have a caring and hot bf and suddenly you are soooo in love with that practically dead guy? Do I even have to point out how much the finale of S2 annoyed me? Not to mention the whole S3 with whiny!Izzie! The fuck?! I don't have a prob with love at first sight, really, maybe it happens outside of tv and books but please, do it at least a bit more subtle and not just...like that!! Especially since you now kinda re-establish Alex/Izzie and come up with his Denny crap again!

For me, it was because of the way he instantly started flirting with her made it seem like it was all about her looks. How many "real" conversations did they have?

Yeah, I was pretty into Alex/Izzie back then, too. Alex, with all his flaws, is much more interesting to me than Denny ever has been.

None. Seriously. Although maybe I am too stupid to see it. *shrug*

Dito! *sigh*
Too bad they are messing it up again. Like Alex didn't go through enough already...
