Title: Oh, What a Night! (1/1)
Fandom: Southern Vampire series (not really True Blood).
Spoilers: All 8 books!
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: Not mine!
Word Count: ~350
Summary: Eric drops by.
Author's Notes: The first of the Christmas fics! This is for
stargazr324 who wanted some Eric and Sookie. It ended up shorter than I anticipated, but hopefully still enjoyable!
One good thing about our bond was that Eric couldn’t sneak up on me anymore. In the past, on a night like this, after a long shift at Merlotte’s, I’d walk into my house completely unprepared to find Eric lounging on my sofa. Now I could wait outside in my car until I was prepared to face him.
Of course, he could feel me out here.
And it wasn’t like I’d ever really be prepared to face him.
And I had missed him. It wasn’t something I’d admit to anyone, let alone Eric, but we hadn’t talked in several weeks, and I’d found myself thinking about him more and more. I missed the false security being in his presence gave me, but even more, I missed Eric himself, with his zany personality, and big laugh. I wasn’t sure what to do with that.
After a good ten minutes of sitting in my car, I took a deep breath and walked into my house. Eric was relaxing on the couch, as if he sat there waiting for me every single night.
“Hello, lover.”
I rolled my eyes. “What do you want?” I sat on a chair opposite him, figuring it was wiser not to sit next to him where anything could happen (however wonderful that “anything” might be).
Eric frowned. “Who said I wanted anything? Can’t I drop by and say hi, like a normal person?”
“Normal people call or wait outside. They don’t break into their friends’ houses.”
“Aw, you called me your friend.”
“Eric--”
“Sookie, I merely stopped by for the pleasure of your company. If that offends you, I can leave.” But his gaze was locked on me, and he didn’t move an inch.
I eyed him thoughtfully. It was hard to believe he didn’t have some other motivation. Vampires in general and Eric in particular always had an ulterior motive.
On the other hand, I could think of worse ways to spend an evening.
“Okay,” I said. “What did you have in mind for the night?”
And the smile he gave me left no doubt in my mind as to his true intentions for the night.
Uh-oh.
