Picspam time! No spoilers for future episodes. (But I have seen them all, so feel free to talk about future events with me. I just don't want to spoil anyone.)

"Rose"

I love this introduction to Rose's completely normal life. Mom. Boyfriend. Job. Nothing strange going on here.

And then a strange man grabs her hand and tells her to run. (He also blows up her job, but Rose doesn't seem to mind too much.)

They run into each other again, and Rose wants to know more:

Rose: Really, though, Doctor. Tell me. Who are you?
Doctor: Do you know like were saying about the Earth revolving? It’s like when you’re a kid, the first they tell you that the world’s turning, and you just can’t quite believe it because everything looks like it’s standing still. I can feel it. The turn of the Earth. The ground beneath our feet spinning at a 1000 miles a hour, and the entire planet is hurtling round the sun at 67,000 miles an hour, and I can feel it. We’re falling through space, you and me, clinging to the skin of this tiny little world, and if we let go . . . . That’s who I am. Now, forget me, Rose Tyler. Go home.

Rose figures out what's going on, the Doctor says "Fantastic," and they hold hands and run some more!

After they save the world, it's time to say good-bye, and yet . . .

Doctor: Right then! I'll be off! Unless, uh . . . I don't know . . . you could come with me. This box isn't just a London hopper, you know, it goes anywhere in the universe free of charge.

Rose: Is it always this dangerous?
Doctor: Yeah.
Rose: Yeah, I can't . . . I've um . . . gotta go and find my mum and um . . . someone's gotta look after this stupid lump . . . So . ..
Doctor: Okay. See you around.

So he leaves.

But not for long!

Doctor: By the way - did I mention, it also travels in time?

Rose can't resist a second time and off they go!

"The End of the World"

Rose: You think you're so impressive.
Doctor: I am so impressive!

Rose: Where are you from?!
Doctor: What does it matter?
Rose: Tell me who you are!
Doctor: This is who I am, right here, right now, all right? All that counts is here and now, and this is me!
Rose: Yeah, and I'm here too because you brought me here, so just tell me!

Rose apologizes to him, and the Doctor does some jiggery pokery so she can call her mom, five billion years in the past.

Rose: The end of the Earth. It's gone. And we were too busy saving ourselves, no one saw it go. All those years . . . all that history and no one was even looking. It's just . . .

Doctor: You think it'll last forever. People, and cars and concrete. But it won't. One day, It's dead. It burned like the Earth. It's just rocks and dust. Before it's time.

Doctor: I'm a Time Lord. I'm the last of the Time Lords. They're all gone. I'm the only survivor. I'm left traveling on my own because there's no one else.
Rose: There's me . . .

Doctor: You've seen how dangerous it is. Do you want to go home?
Rose: I don't know. I want . . . Oh! Can you smell chips?
Doctor: Yeah. Yeah!
Rose: I want chips.
Doctor: Me too.

Rose: We've only got five billion years before the shops close.

And off they go, already so happy together!

PK Tech Girl

Aeryn: This is my world, John! Don't interfere!

Yeah, I just put this in here because I do believe is the first time she calls him John. (She also tries to hit him, but that's nothing new.)

What?!? John, you're only supposed to inappropriately bump into walls with Aeryn!

HEY! DON'T KISS HER!!!

Okay, fine. Gilina's sweet. Have your fun.

Aeryn reacts to walking in on John/Gilina kissing by lifting heavy objects. I'm impressed.

John: Would you stop? HEY! Look! Hey what happened back there was-
Aeryn: None of my business.
John: Yes, it was. You and I are shipmates.

HEE.

John: What I'm trying to say is - haven't you ever just "clicked" with a guy?
Aeryn: What? Clicked?
John: Yeah. You know. Found a guy attractive?
Aeryn: Yes. But I didn't let it . . . In the beginning I found you . . . interesting.
John: Me?
Aeryn: Yes. But only for a moment!
John: Good. That's, uh, good. I mean this is good to be on, uh, even terms.
Aeryn: I agree!
John: Yup, um . .. It's always a good idea to clear the air.
Aeryn: Very - clear - air!

SO MUCH MORE HEE!

This is just Aeryn being awesome. Look at that gun!

Aeryn: You know what happened to me. Being deemed irreversibly contaminated by Crais. Contamination by enemy life forms. That could happen to you. The punishment is death. Or worse - banishment. I hope you can only ever imagine how horrible it is to never return to the life that you love. You are smarter than that, Gilina.

Poor Aeryn. The others can go home. Sure, they might be far away from it. In John's case, it seems impossible he'd ever return to Earth. But it could happen. For Aeryn, it's banishment or death.

John: Hey.
Aeryn: A greeting I shall never understand.
John: It's kinda all-purpose. Let's see, let the other person decide what they want to talk about.
Aeryn: What if they don't want to talk?
John: Then they say 'hey' back.
Aeryn: Hey.
John: Well, now the first person that doesn't wanna talk can be trumped if the other person realizes that they need to. Hey.

I love it when John tries to teach Aeryn human ways.

John: You know, in my world, they say that loss is the hardest emotion to deal with.
Aeryn: In my world, showing pain is a sign of weakness.
John: How can you not feel pain after what you've been through?
Aeryn: Don't presume to understand me, John.
John: That's not fair. It's not fair, Aeryn. You bash me all the time for being soft. Well the fact of the matter is that sometimes it's an advantage and this is one of them I think I understand you.
Aeryn: There's no way you can know how I feel.
John: If I somehow, someday, get a chance to return to my world. Walk around my old neighborhood. See my old house. Dad's truck. Best friend's bike on the lawn. And then I get a chance to go inside. I walk through the living room upstairs to my room. Had a poster of Clint Eastwood. The Good, The Bad And The Ugly. And then I think - what if everyone were dead? What if all my friends and family were lying there, dead. Now what would it be like to go home then?
Aeryn: I stand corrected.

I'd actually forgotten about this conversation, but now that I've seen it again, I have SO MUCH love for it. There's a lot going on here. I mean, John brings up the "soft" thing. (Remember Zhaan a couple of weeks ago? "Soft, yes. Weak, no.") And Aeryn admits that he does understand what she's going through. Also, she calls him John again.

OKAY. That was fun, but kind of exhausting. I don't know how often I'll do this, but it'll probably happen more for Farscape. Doctor Who already has so much picspam love out there.

Screencaps: Doctor Who. Farscape.

It's considered a kid's show in Britain, so maybe that's what you're picking up on? And I think it does have kind of a "vibe" that you have to get used to. But it's not for you, then don't worry about it. :)
