For [livejournal.com profile] i_am_girlfriday: Rose/Scorpius, Harry Potter

Rose's father had told her to beat Scorpius in school, but she hadn't expected it to be a challenge. After all, she was the daughter of Hermione Granger. She was expected to do well in school, just as her cousins were expected to make the quidditch team.

But if she waited just a second to raise her hand in class, Scorpius would butt in with the answer. If she got to class five minutes earlier, he'd get there ten minutes early.

When she'd complained about it to Albus, her cousin just grinned and sid, "You should be nicer to him, Rose. He doesn't have any friends."

Rose made a face. "What do you mean? All those Slytherins stick close together."

"Not Scorpius," Albus said. "Haven't you noticed? He's always alone."

So, Rose started paying more attention to Scorpius. And Albus was right. While all the other Slytherins left classrooms together in one noisy bunch, Scorpius stayed behind, taking his time to gather his books. She thought about her dad telling her how Scorpius's father tortured him and Uncle Harry in school . . . but then she also remembered her mom telling her how hard it was in school, coming in knowing no one, and how lucky Rose was to have her cousins with her. Maybe Scorpius didn't have anyone.

Rose didn't like the idea of anyone being that alone.

One day, after they were assigned some particularly difficult Transfiguration homework, Rose waited behind in the classroom, letting Albus and her other friends leave without her. She took a deep breath, and approached Scorpius.

"Do you want to study together?" she asked.

His smile was so blinding that Rose knew she'd made a friend for life.

For [livejournal.com profile] jobiegirl6: Angela/Hodgins and Sweets/Daisy (Bones)

"What you doing?" Hodgins asked. Angela was standing behind a tree outside the diner, staring in the window.

"Shh!" Angela said. "I think they're on a date." She pointed through the window, where Sweets and Daisy were seated in a booth, their heads close together.

"So you're spying on them?" Hodgins asked.

"They're sweet," Angela said. "I miss that part of a relationship, don't you? When you just sit and talk to each other for hours."

"Yeah," Hodgins said softly. "You think they'll make it?"

Angela shrugged. "If they're right for each other. The right people always stick it out."

"You really believe that?"

Angela turned to face him. "Or they find their way back to each other." She reached her hand out to Hodgins.

He took it.

For [livejournal.com profile] unsungelegance: Chase/Cameron (House)

Sometimes, on the days when Chase lost patients, or House wouldn't leave him alone, he wondered if it was all worth it. Being a doctor. Living this kind of life. Maybe he should just leave it all. Go back home to Australia. Take up sheep farming.

And then he would walk into the locker room, and Cameron would be waiting for him. She'd always been an optimist, and maybe that's what attracted him to her in the first place. These days, she didn't even have to say anything. All she had to do was smile, and he knew it would be all right.

Tomorrow would be better.

For [livejournal.com profile] livlovlaugh: Jack/Renee (24)
"We did it!" Renee said, as the last of the day's threats officially melted away. When Jack didn't respond to her, she frowned. "Jack?" He was supposed to be better now, but maybe . . .

He shook his head. "These days don't get any easier."

Renee took a step toward him. "But we did it, Jack. You did it. You saved our country."

"And lost so many people." In his voice, she heard the echo of Larry, Bill, Tony, and so many others she'd never even met.

"But maybe we gained something, too."

And he looked at her with something in his eyes that just might be hope.

There was so much she wanted to say to him, but, for now, in the aftermath of the worst 24 hours she'd ever experienced, she settled for simply taking hold of his hand and not letting go.

For [livejournal.com profile] wings4music Booth/Brennan (Bones)

"What are you talking about?" Brennan said. "I had no problem admitting I was in love with you."

"It was four years!"

"No, I knew before then."

"When?" Booth demanded.

"Certain factors attracted me fairly early on in our partnership, though that, of course, can be chalked up to simple chemical reactions."

"You know what, Bones?" Booth said. "I don't care. As long as you love me now. You do, right?"

"Yes, Booth. I love you. Now go away and let me work."

"Love you, too."

For [livejournal.com profile] sellega: Sawyer/Juliet, first kiss (Lost)

Another sub was leaving tomorrow. Juliet decided that, yes, this one would be the one she left on. She'd never promised to stay here forever, and whatever the 70's in the outside world were like, they had to be better than the island.

She knocked on the door of the house James had been assigned to. He was the one who'd convinced her to stay, and that meant he deserved to know she was leaving.

She didn't have to say anything. As soon as she opened the door, he said, "You're leaving."

"Yes."

"Don't do it."

"Why, James? What does it matter at this point? If we're stuck here, we might as well be stuck off the island."

"There's nothing out there for you!"

"There's nothing for me here!"

James smirked at her.

"Oh no," Juliet said. "Don't try that on me." She turned and began walking away.

"Wait!" James caught up to her and grabbed her arm. "Juliet . . ."

"Yes?"

"Ain't never been good with words," James mumbled, before pulling her close to him and kissing her.

Juliet was lost in his arms, in the feel of his mouth, and the smell of his skin, and then . . . he released her.

"Stay," he said, and walked away.

"I can always catch the next sub!" she yelled to his retreating back.

"Whatever you say, Jules."

For [livejournal.com profile] sellega: Sawyer/Juliet, moving in (Lost)

"How do you have so much stuff?" James asked. "We got here with the clothes on our back!"

"That was the last box," Juliet said. She stood in the middle of the empty living room. She'd only lived here eight months and, somehow, it had almost begun to feel like home.

"Well, then," James said. "You ready to shack up?"

Juliet walked across the room to meet him and took his hand. "Yes."

And when they walked into his, now their house, Juliet knew she had found yet another home.

She hoped this one would stick.

For [livejournal.com profile] caruso Marshall/Lily/Ted, college years (How I Met Your Mother)

It had started out as a joke. Ted hadn't been on a date for months, and he said Marshall should just loan him Lily for a night.

Marshall said, "Only if I'm there."

They'd repeated it to Lily, hoping to make her laugh, but, instead, an evil smile spread across her face. "I'm free tonight."

Marshall laughed nervously. "Lily, you don't mean . . ."

"Yeah, Lily, were were just . . . " Ted said.

"I dare you to," Lily said.

And, well, who could back down from a dare?

For [livejournal.com profile] wordsflow: Kimberly/Tommy (Power Rangers)

It was one of those rare moments between battles, and between competitions, when Kimberly felt like a normal teen. The sun was shining, and Tommy was at her side. What more could she possibly need?

Kimberly stretched out on the blanket. They'd finished their picnic lunch, spent hours talking, and had now fallen into a comfortable silence. Tommy was the only boy she'd ever felt this content with. The only guy she'd ever been able to sit with and just be. She was scared, sometimes, of what that meant. They were so young, and had such different ambitions. And the secret life they led kept getting more dangerous.

Then there were the times like these. Everything from school to gymnastics to Rita and Zedd felt far away, and Tommy was all she saw.

He lay down next to her. "Hey," he said, smiling. "I love you."

"I love you, too."

For [livejournal.com profile] chocochip_pie: Cristina/Owen, after the wedding (Grey's Anatomy)

Cristina had prepared herself for Meredith and Derek's wedding. She'd known what to say, and how to smile. In short, she'd had it all perfectly planned out. Having it be Izzie and Alex's instead? That changed everything.

That must have been the reason she let him approach her. That wasn't supposed to happen. Not at a wedding. It would be too hard on both of them.

But Owen was smiling so maybe, just maybe, they could have this moment. Could pretend they were just another couple mingling at the reception.

"You looked beautiful," he said.

"Thank you," Cristina said.

"I'd ask you to dance, but--"

"I don't dance," Cristina said quickly.

"I wish . . . " Owen reached out to touch her, but Cristina turned away.

She couldn't do it. She couldn't pretend. She hadn't meant to let any man in her life ever again, but she had, and now she couldn't have him.

Which meant she was lonelier than ever.

For [livejournal.com profile] torigates: : Booth/Brennan, white light (Bones)

"I'm afraid to go to sleep," Booth said.

"The doctor said you'll be just fine," Brennan said. "In fact, she encouraged you to sleep in order to promote healing."

"I'm just afraid of . . . going into the white light."

Brennan frowned. "The white light?"

"You know? Don't go into the light?"

"Booth, if you're referring to near death experiences, the evidence suggests that reports of 'white light' are due to REM intrusion and--"

"Hey," Booth covered her hand with his. "Not comforting."

"Oh. I'm . . . not good with comforting."

"Yes, you are," Booth said.

"Do you want me to . . . stay with you?" Brennan asked. "If I see any signs of you . . . going toward the light, I'll alert the nurses."

"Thanks, Bones." Booth leaned back on the pillows and closed his eyes.

Brennan hesitated a moment, and then leaned forward and kissed his forehead. "Sleep well, Booth."

I liked the two Bones ones. But adored the House (House/Cameron!) one. ^^
